The purpose of the institute is to provide a forum for the dissemination of advanced scientific knowledge on Microsystems, "Microfluidics" for security. This advanced study institute will primarily be a high level teaching activity, where the subject will be treated in considerable depth by lecturers eminent in their fields. Lecturers will cover the Fundamentals and Applications of the subject matters. Limited number of short presentations from young scientists will also be accepted as supplementary to lectures but may not be published. The lecture manuscripts will be published as NATO Science series by Springer. The extended abstracts of the lectures will be available in a printed Book of Extended Abstracts to the participants at the registration desk. The institute will provide in-depth information to researchers regarding up-to-date results and areas of future research. Attendance to the meeting will be a limited. Limited number of financial grants to scientists from NATO, Partner and Mediterranean Dialogue countries are available. Applications with background information and a letter of recommendation from the head of the department must be submitted no later than April 15, 2009. Successful applicants will be notified by May 20, 2009. The cost of half-board accommodations, from Sunday evening August 23, 2009 through checkouts Friday mid afternoon September 4, 2009 is €600 for single occupancy and €480 for double occupancy per person.
