INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER
TURBINE-2000
INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON HEAT TRANSFER IN GAS TURBINE SYSTEMS
13 - 18 August 2000
Çeşme, Turkey
The International Centre for Heat and Mass Transfer is pleased to announce
TURBINE-2000, an international symposium on developments in Heat Transfer
in Gas Turbine Systems, to take place in Cesme, Turkey, in August 2000.
Abstract due date is prolonged to April 20
To provide a forum for the international thermal and fluid sciences
communities to present and review the most recent developments in heat
transfer and thermal control applied to modern, high-temperature gas
turbine systems. To be presented are: experimental results and techniques,
computational studies and methods, and design recommendations. Aspects of
heat transfer in rotating machinery to be addressed include:
- combustor and transition section heat transfer,
- heat exchange to turbine airfoil and endwall surfaces
within the gas path,
- stator internal heat transfer,
- disk cavity and blade internal flow and heat transfer,
- innovative cooling techniques, and
- heat exchange in turbines with combined cycles.
Thermal aspects of other sections of the turbine (e.g. the compressor)
will also be included. The results of this conference should be valuable
to researchers in heat transfer as well as to designers of gas turbine
systems.
The symposium will be held at Golden Dolphin Holiday Village, in Çeşme,
a resort place near Izmir, on the Aegean Coast of Turkey, which is very
close to Ephesus, one of the archaeological gems of Western Turkey.

Papers will be assessed for presentation at the symposium on the basis of
a 600 word (2-3 pages including figures) extended abstract. They should
not have been previously published. A bound volume of the abstracts will
be provided to participants at the meeting. A guide for preparation of
abstracts is given here.
The Proceedings of the symposium will be published by the New York Academy
of Sciences. Review copies (in camera-ready format) of the full paper
will be due on the opening day of the symposium. Authors are encouraged to
bring preprints for distribution at the symposium.
Poster presentation at the meeting is also possible. Please write to Professor Goldstein for details.
Posters should have the size 1.2m (width) by 1m (height), maximum, should be readable at a distance, and contain more pictures than words.
All reservations in the Golden Dolphin Holiday Village must be made
through the ICHMT Secretariat to obtain the Symposium discount rates.
The room charges in US Dollars per person per night, including open-buffet
breakfast and dinner, are:

participants arriving at Izmir Airport (Adnan Menderes Airport). You must
use the Travel Schedule below to inform the ICHMT Secretariat well in
advance about your flight schedule, complete with date and time of your
arrival and the name of the carrier. NOMAD will provide transportation
from the airport directly to the Golden Dolphin, and from there back to
Izmir airport when you are departing, at a cost of $ US 25 per person each
way. Advance payment is not required. The distance is about 120 km, and
the only other direct service from the Airport to Çeşme is by taxi,
available at all hours, for a cost of approximately $ 60 US one way for up
